Laser cutting machines are advanced technologies that integrate optics, mechanics, and electronics. Pulsed lasers are suitable for metal materials, while continuous lasers are suitable for non-metal materials. The former is an important application area of laser cutting technology and has become the mainstream equipment for processing metal materials. When purchasing a laser cutting machine, some customers compare whether to buy imported or domestic products, some compare prices, some compare configurations, and some compare brands. However, regardless of whether you buy imported or domestic machines, the following points need to be noted.

When purchasing a laser cutting machine, some customers compare whether imported or domestic products are better, some compare prices, some compare configurations, and some compare brands. However, regardless of whether you buy imported or domestic, the following matters need attention.
For current metal processing customers, metal laser cutting machines are essential basic equipment for modern processing. However, after purchasing a suitable product, we find that the performance of this brand's optical cutting machine is very stable, and both cutting quality and after-sales service are excellent. There are dozens or even hundreds of brands of laser cutting machines available in the Chinese market. We face a wide variety of metal laser cutting machine brands; how can we choose a laser cutting machine that is both easy to use and cost-effective?
Mainly from four aspects: image production, efficiency, blowing, and cutting speed.
Whether the cutting is accurate enough can be judged by the smoothness of the image lines. Creating beautiful graphic styles is the greatest test of a laser cutting machine's performance.
Due to different power models, laser cutting machines can cut different types of plates and thicknesses. Looking at what types of plates the laser cutting machine is suitable for can also help identify quality.
In actual processing, fiber laser cutting machines will have various pursuits. Of course, this will also affect their quality. Some materials may require more or less blowing to achieve the desired effect, so it is also acceptable not to use materials during the production process. Sometimes it is necessary to blow according to the overall condition of the material to achieve the expected effect.
Laser cutting machines of different qualities will also have different cutting speeds at any time.
From the above four aspects, the quality of a fiber laser cutting machine can basically be identified. Of course, the laser cutting machine can be selected based on the specific materials and thicknesses being cut to maximize the performance of the laser cutter.
Six major principles for judging the quality of metal laser cutting machine products.
1. The cutting surface is smooth, without stripes, burrs, or brittle fractures.
When cutting thick plates with a metal laser cutting machine, molten metal will never appear in the cut at the top of the laser beam but will be ejected behind the laser beam. Therefore, the curve formed on the cutting edge closely follows the moving laser beam. To solve this problem, we only slow down at the end of the cutting process, which basically eliminates the generation of lines.
2. The size of the cutting gap.
The slit width is narrow, which is mainly related to the diameter of the laser beam spot. Generally speaking, the cutting width of a metal laser cutting machine does not affect cutting quality. The cutting width has an important impact, forming part of a particularly precise profile. This is because the cutting width determines the smallest external part of the profile, and as the plate thickness increases, the cutting width will also increase. Therefore, to ensure the same high precision, regardless of how large the cutting width is, the workpiece in the laser cutting machine processing area should be constant.
3. Good verticality of the cutting seam and small heat-affected zone.
Generally, the verticality of the cross-section of materials cut by a metal laser cutting machine below 5MM may never be a major evaluation factor, but for high-power laser cutting, if the thickness of the processed material exceeds 10mm, the verticality of the cutting edge becomes very important. When the laser beam diverges away from the focal point, the cut widens towards the top or varies according to the position of the focal point. A few millimeters deviation from the vertical line means the more vertical the edge, the higher the cutting quality. The IPG laser used in Jiatai laser cutting machines and the laser beam emitted by the machine tool are very stable. The upper and lower error of 10mm products can be controlled within 0.3 mm.
4. No burning of materials, no formation of molten layers, no large slag.
The slag of metal laser CNC cutting machines mainly manifests in deposition and burrs on the cross-section. Materials deposit on the surface of the workpiece. Before the result of laser cutting, special oils begin to melt. Vaporization and various materials never need to be blown away by customers to clear the cut, but unloading upwards or downwards can also form deposits on the surface. The formation of burrs is one of the important factors affecting laser cutting quality, as eliminating burrs requires extra work, so the severity and quantity of burrs can intuitively determine cutting quality.
5. Thermal effects on the cutting materials.
As a thermal cutting processing application device, metal laser cutting machines will definitely have thermal effects on metal materials during use. Its manifestations mainly include three aspects: 1. Heat-affected zone. 2. Pitting and corrosion. 3. Material deformation.
The heat-affected zone refers to the area near the cutting area that is heated by laser cutting. In addition, the structure of the metal may also change. For example, some metals may harden. The heat-affected zone refers to the depth of the area where internal structure changes occur. Therefore, pitting and corrosion are used for cutting.
The edges' surfaces are adversely affected, impacting appearance. They appear in general cutting errors and should be avoided. If cutting causes parts to heat up rapidly, they will deform. This is most important in fine processing, as the profiles and webs here are generally only a few millimeters wide. Controlling laser power and using short laser pulses can reduce part heating and avoid deformation.
6. Rough electroplating on the cutting surface, the size of surface roughness is a key measure of laser cutting surface quality.
In fact, for metal laser cutting machines, the texture of the cutting cross-section has a direct relationship with roughness. Often, a cross-section with poor cutting performance will directly lead to relatively high roughness. However, considering the differences in the reasons for these two different influences, we generally analyze metal laser.
We also analyzed the processing quality of CNC cutting machines separately. The laser cutting part will form vertical lines. The depth of the lines determines the roughness of the cutting surface. The shallower the lines, the smoother the cutting part. Roughness not only affects the appearance of the edges but also affects friction characteristics. In most cases, it is necessary to reduce roughness, so the shallower the texture, the higher the cutting quality.
